It started on March 13, 2012,and was to last “until further notice”.

In a soft news release via their email to their subscribers subject-lined “Limited $10 Coupon” dated March 31, 2012, iHerb indicated the end by writing …
“… And now, through March 31st, your iHerb coupon code NER294 is worth twice as much!”
Macky Sigg, co-founder of http://wwww.iHerbCouponNer294.com, a site indepenedent of iHerb but promotes their products reacted:
“Oh well, all good things really don’t last long”.
He wrote to iHerb in an email where he cited that the idea of the $10 coupon “was in fact very good … if V**** (a rival company) can sustain it … why can’t iHerb?”
Well, he confided that he knows the answer.
The $10 promo of the “rival company”, is actually a “store credit” which you can spend ONLY within their company.
On the other hand, iHerb’s discount of $5 is real income opportunity.
He explains:
“If your accumulated iHerb cash rewards exceed $300 for any given month, you have the option to “cash out”.
This is not possible under the present rules of the “rival company”.
Sigg, further expresses his apology for any inconvenience brought about by their previous press release headlined “iHerb.com Increases iHerb Coupon to $10 “. Thia appeared in several Press Release sites after iHerb announced their new $10 promo.
He said, “… the idea was so good, I thought it was going to last a while … and maybe, become even permanent!”.
‘Well, it didn’t’, he rued.
The iherb discount promo of $10 officially ended on March 31, 2012, and goes back to the original $5.
iHerb discount – probable reasons why the $10 discount was short-lived …
Here is our thoughts about it.
We stress that these are just speculations … not based on verifiable facts … .
1. Perhaps, the campaign was so successful, iHerb saw that it ill eventually affect their bottomline. You see, iHerb is a deep discount store that gets their savings from mass volume sales and operational efficiencies.
2. Perhaps, the campaign was a “teaser”, or a “trial balloon” … they want to see how the market will respond.
Or … perhaps … all of the above is wrong .
Conclusion – iHerb Discount
To the astute “discount” buyer … with or without the iherb promo of $5, or even $10 … iHerbCouponNer294 still believes that iHerb offers the BEST Overall Value when it comes to buying your natural health or herbal-based products online.

I did this iHerb review before I settled at iHerb as my primary source of natural health products.
I buy a lot of health products online, and these factors are my prime considerations.
1. Price.
The price must be “right”. ”Cheap” may be is a more appropriate word. Compared to their competition who maintain a a physical presence (e.g. GNC), Online natural healhth sellers like iHerb, don’t have to pay huge monthly rental expenses.
Therefore, they should be able to pass these savings onto their customers.
2. Range and fresheness of Products.
They must have a wide range of choices so that the online buyer doesn’t have to “tab” to other sites and waste more hours to find what they need. They must have the “top brands” available.
And since health products expire after a certain time, the expiry date on the label must be clearly visible.
3. Product storage, good warehousing system.
On the side of the seller, they must have a good temperature-controlled warehousing system to insure that health products stay fresh and undamaged.

4. Fast delivery and free shipping for extra savings.
What’s the use of cheap and fresh, if the products take weeks to be delivered?
Almost all online sellers provide free shipping. This has now become a standar. The only question is — at how much does free shipping start?
Some provide free shipping from as low as $20, to as high as $99.
Of course, the lower the limit — the more the buyer is enticed to come back.
5. Check-out, shopping cart.
Checking out must be a breeze.
The buyer doesn’t want surprises. There must be a confirmation before you are actually charged for what you bought.
Also, you must be able to edit, change, or return items in your cart smoothly.
In short, checking out and changing items in your cart, before check-out, must be idiot-proof.
6. Reputation

- Contact information – nebulous. No physical address (especially if you are dealing with an online retailer for a physical product.
- Personal information – if someone you know and trust has had a personal experience. Like me, when I was scammed clean of about $5,000 above.
- Too good to be true. Again, me. I believed in a rate of return of 1-3% a day!
- You’re being rushed to make a decision and hand in your credit card. Why the hurry?
- Reputation. How long had they been in the business?
- Testimonials from verified customers. Are the testimonials fishy?
- Phony “trust me business” seals from Certification Authorities (e.g. “Better Business Bureau”). You see them all the time.
A simple test is to CLICK on these seals and see where it is directed.
If authentic, you will be directed to a page or a popup showing “proof of service”, or the like.

I pride myself as a “health buff”. I prefer eating foods raw because eating foods raw maximizes getting the nutrients out of the food you eat.
